Hospital Support

Hospital Support

Supervision of contact between a parent and child, when a child is in hospital, can be very distressing for parents/carers. Our service is impartial and independent and is there to ensure the child is Safeguarded throughout. We have a wealth of experience in supervising parents with newborn babies in hospitals and supervising parents with their child when a child is born and is already on a Child Protection Plan, there has been a concern of non-accidental injuries, or the family is known to Children’s Social Care.

How is the support offered?

  • Staffing in Hospitals is, in most cases, at a ratio of 1:1.
  • Staff will fully supervise the child throughout the duration of support.
  • Staff will promote parents to provide all care for the child while in Hospital, unless it is agreed that in doing so, the child may be at risk of harm.
  • Staff will record notes and write a report outlining the support they have provided for the child and the support the parent has provided. All concerns/incidents will be called through to EDT and SWIS On Call and discussed immediately with Hospital Staff.
